Dementia Care Qualifications

Brooks and Kirk have been offering Dementia Care qualifications for many years. Recently we have seen many other companies offering dementia care training in as little as two hours.

As a provider of quality dementia training this worries us. You cannot learn about dementia in two hours. We actually believe that anybody booking this type of training is throwing away their money. This type of training has no purpose for anybody who is serious about delivering quality Dementia Care.

The Common Induction Standards sets out the minimum dementia knowledge required by healthcare workers. Main Area 3 of Standard 7says Healthcare workers should;

Be aware of possible signs of dementia in the individuals with whom you work.
Be aware why depression, delirium and age related memory impairment may be mistaken for dementia.
Understand why early diagnosis is important in relation to dementia.
Know who to tell, and how, if you suspect.

Our Dementia Training covers all these topics and far more.It is fully accredited and leads to nationally recognised qualifications.

If you are serious about providing quality dementia training forget about 2 hour of half day workshops and enroll on a Brooks and Kirk fully accredited Dementia training course.

What are our students saying about our courses?

Below are comments from students on some of our recent Dementia courses. We think you might find interesting.

“I knew very little about dementia before this course, but it has helped me gain the information and knowledge I need to aid me in my caring.  I now understand that I need to personalise my care to the individual and take into account all acts and legislations when carrying out my caring. I really enjoyed this course”.

Alicia

“I found this course very interesting and rewarding.  Through the information gained, I have improved my caring as a whole and I have changed the way I treat a dementia client for the better”.

Martin

“I now have a greater understanding on the different types of dementia and I am now able to differentiate between residents in my care home and how their needs vary”.

Elizabeth

“This course made me reflect on my current practices and think of ways of improving how I approach some aspects of care.  I found it very helpful looking at current legislations as I am now aware of the relevant acts that apply in the workplace.  Overall, it was a very interesting and helpful course”.
