Every Learner is Different | Mahesh’s Story
About Mahesh
Mahesh is into a lot of different things. He likes going swimming and watching films at the cinema; he’s a big Marvel fan. Mahesh enjoys being a sociable person in general, joining groups he’s interested in and just meeting new people. He likes going for long walks and visiting historical places like the national trust, and is into Ghost hunting and paranormal activities too.
Life before Brooks and Kirk
Mahesh’s background initially was in retail. After leaving college he didn’t really know what he wanted to do, so he worked full time in retail progressing his way up to management level.
In 2005, he decided to change career paths and wanted to do something completely different. He wanted to delve more into mental health and started looking at health and social care career routes.
Mahesh applied for a few jobs, and as all employers do, they asked if he had any experience. He didn’t have any work experience, but he had life experiences in the area which is what got his foot in the door.
He progressed on and ended up working for a mental health organisation for 5 and a half years but unfortunately, was made redundant in 2014. Mahesh gained some qualifications whilst working, which led him through to the education sector.
Finding Brooks and Kirk
In 2016, Mahesh was working in a call centre in a medical practice but it wasn’t really something he wanted to do as a career.
Course Review
“It was quite self-explanatory for me because I had already done PTLLS Level 4. So it kind of crossed over within the assessing side of things. I was very much ‘on the ball’ in terms of getting on with the assignments and sending one off a week, getting my feedback and going on to the next.”
Review sent to one of our assessors via Email
“I’m super chuffed and thank you all at Brooks & Kirk for this fine opportunity with the CAVA course. It’s been an amazing experience and have recommended Brooks and Kirk to some friends who are looking to do Assessing.”
Life after the Assessor Course
Mahesh applied for a number of assessor jobs in the Birmingham area an eventually, he did find some work. He tells us it was in more of an intervention role in education.
Unfortunately following this, Mahesh became ill, so I’m currently unemployed. I am still keeping my options open though!
