Every Learner is Different | B.J’s Story
About B.J
B.J likes to watch movies online and on the BBC, and meet up with her friends.
Life before Brooks and Kirk
Prior to her Assessor qualification with Brooks and Kirk, B.J was teaching and had completed her DTLLS. She wanted to take the next step up and become an Assessor, and diverse herself rather than limit herself to only being able to teach. B.J was trying to understand how assessors use the different assessment methods, as her job role was more academic.
Finding Brooks and Kirk
When she was trying to find out how to get her CAVA qualification, B.J had done a lot of research in understanding what the qualification actually is. A common problem within the assessing world that B.J also found was that there are a lot of different terminologies and qualifications, which at the time she found difficult to understand. However, one of her colleagues at college helped her.
Incidentally, B.J left her job for a couple of years and as a result she didn’t have access to learners to assess. In order to complete her Assessor qualification, B.J was looking for a course that she could a) complete online, and b) provide learners for her to use. This led her to Brooks and Kirk.
Course Review
B.J said that her experience as a whole was really nice especially all of the faculty calls. B.J liked how they organised the one-day session when she came into Birmingham. She found it to be a great learning experience for herself. As she is now completing the finds IQA she finds it a bit more independent compared to the CAVA course, she took a long break from the course because she joined back with her college again but now, she is back on track.
Review left on Trustpilot
I recently completed a course in Award in End-Point
Assessment Principles and Practice delivered by Brooks and Kirk and I am really
pleased with the course. The course was delivered online and was well
structured and comprehensive. I am now clear about the roles and
responsibilities of IEPA’s , EPAO’s and how they are different from traditional
assessor’s role.
I certainly recommend the course who wish to pursue a career
as IEPA.
Life after the Assessor Course
B.J is a lecturer and currently teaching a Level 3 qualification is Psychology in a college. She hopes to go into a Quality Assurance role in the future.
B.J’s Advice
“Stay focused, because it is all online and there can be lots of distractions that happen in life, so it is important to stay focused.”
